This is a quite hefty part of the site, and I wanted to try to keep all of the medical and medicine-related information in the same place for ease of navigation. To that end, the topic is organized according to the natural divisions currently observed in the science, with a short definition for each. Each term is also the hyperlink to that part of the site.

Medicine is the science and art of healing. It encompasses a variety of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness.
Medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical chemistry is a discipline at the intersection of chemistry and pharmacology involved with designing, synthesizing and developing pharmaceutical agents.
Pharmacology is the study of the interactions that occur between a living organism and chemicals that affect normal or abnormal biochemical function. It also addresses metabolism, excretion, toxicity, etc.
Drug development is the process of bringing a new drug or device to the market. It includes drug discovery/product development, pre-clinical research (microorganisms/ animals) and clinical trials (on humans).
A basic understanding of biology, from cell to the entire body, is essential if one is to understand how various molecules interact with the body. Since biology is primarily descriptive, assimilation is not difficult.
